Four Seasons Resort
Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu
The master planned Kaupulehu Resort encompasses the Four Seasons Hotel, residential development, golf courses, tennis center, spa and fitness center as well as varied retail and entertainment components. The resort is tucked in beside the bungalows of the established Kona Village, ten minutes from the Kona Airport. The Kajima Group Companies provided development, as well as construction management services, for the resort.
Phase One of the Resort includes a residential development with 20 two-story condominium buildings. Phase Two is the 243-room Four Seasons hotel. In keeping with the neighborhood, the 243 rooms of the hotel are fitted into 36 low-rise bungalows, almost all with ocean views. The rooms are a generous 600 square feet, allowing for walk-in closets, concealed television, a fax line, refrigerated private bar and a large bathroom looking out onto private gardens, a large lanai or a private garden on the ground floor. The interior decorations are superb with mid-tone hardwoods in the floors and furniture complementing slate and stone floors.
Hawaiiana is a major thrust of the resort. A major collection of Hawaiian artwork is scattered throughout the resort. The two story reception hall has a lobby on top and, a floor below, a separate Hawaiiana interpretive center with exhibits devoted to the history, local legends and ancient traditions of the region.
Restaurants include an aquarium restaurant, a pool-side bar and grill and a golf club bar and grill overlooking the eighteenth green, part of the 14,000-square-foot golf clubhouse. The Four Season’s has considerable meeting space with an outdoor amphitheater accommodating an audience of 300.
