Aquarium of the Pacific

Long Beach, California

KUD partnered with a newly formed not-for-profit organization in Long Beach for the redevelopment of the city’s strategically important waterfront area, Rainbow Harbor. Taking a lead in the structuring of the initiative to enable funding of the project, KUD also managed the feasibility stages, and delivered approvals and design details.

A cornerstone of the masterplan is the 16,000 sq m, $120 million Aquarium of the Pacific. The result of genuine public / private partnership, the aquarium – which to date has had more than 10 million visitors – acts to anchor the development and has been central to the successful economic and social rejuvenation of the downtown area. KUD continues to work with the City of Long Beach to ensure that the economic legacy of their investment is maintained.

THE AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC IS THE CORNERSTONE OF A REGENERATED WATERFRONT FOR THE CITY OF LONG BEACH

The City of Long Beach is proud and honored to have KUD taking the lead in developing the finest aquarium in the world – the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. KUD’s contributions to the city’s World Trade Center development make them a valuable partner in our strategic plan for economic revitalization, and their active interest in our community of Long Beach is an indication of their dedication and commitment to promoting quality of life.
